5 things to do in Raleigh during the 2018 PRSA Southeast District Conference

The 2018 PRSA Southeast District Conference doesn’t have to be all business. In addition to the great speakers and terrific after-hours events scheduled, you’ve got the entire city of Raleigh and North Carolina’s famous Research Triangle to enjoy.

We can’t list them all here, but we’ve found five must-see/must-do events and places to take in while you’re in the area:

1) Get a Peaceful Easy Feeling – Legendary rockers The Eagles are playing the PNC Arena the Tuesday night before the conference. There are still plenty of tickets available. Although the band lost Glenn Frey in 2016, these desperadoes are still on the road with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey along for the ride.

2) Play Ball! The Kevin Costner movie made them famous; the next generation of big leaguers made them champions. The Durham Bulls – the Triple-A minor league team for the Tampa Bay Rays – call the Triangle home. You can catch them at home Friday night after the conference when they host the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

3) Take in a ShowBroadway’s national touring companies make regular stops at the incredible Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts. The Tony-nominated production of Bright Star is town during the conference. Enjoy the bluegrass-inspired musical created by comedian Steve Martin and musician Edie Brickell.

4) Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth – There’s no chocolate river or Oompa Loompas but the Videri Chocolate Factory will satisfy any chocolate lover’s passion. No appointment is necessary; just drop in and see the bean-to-bar process unfold.

5) Take a Hike – You’re going to spend a lot of time in the Renaissance Raleigh North Hills Hotel. You’re going to need some fresh air. The William B. Umstead State Park is the perfect retreat. It has 22 miles of hiking trails through the forest. Stay over the weekend and enjoy great fishing on one of three manmade lakes.

That should be enough to fill out your calendar and get you started. We’ll see you in April!

The PRSA Southeast District Conference takes place April 18-20, 2018, in Raleigh, N.C. For more information or to register, visit prsasummit.org.
