SE PRSA District Conference Set for Sept. 19-21 in Chattanooga

Bringing together nationally recognized experts with professionals from throughout the region, the 2012 Southeast PRSA conference (http://www.seprsaconference.com/) will cover topics from digital marketing, strategic planning and entertainment public relations. Keynote speakers have been announced.

The Southeast PRSA District welcomes the following keynote speakers to the 2012 conference:

Sally Falkow

President, Social Ally

A veteran of the PR industry, Sally Falkow was one of the very early adopters of digital PR and social media. She translated her extensive experience in marketing, PR and communication to the Internet. Her main interest is in the shift in media consumption and how new technology is affecting the practice of PR. She was named PR Trainer of the Year for 2009 by PR News for her Social Media Strategy Bootcamp classes.

She is the highest rated presenter for Bulldog Reporter’s PR University and she recently taught a class in social media strategy and content at USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. Over the past three years Sally trained more than 500 agency and corporate PR people on how to plan and implement an effective social media program. Two of the New York PR agencies she trained were finalists for Digital PR Agency of the Year in 2010.

Sally is certified as an Accredited Public Relations Practitioner by the Public Relations Society of America and is a Senior Fellow of the Society for New Communication Research. Sally is a founding member of the Social Media Club and launched this initiative in the Los Angeles area in August 2006. The Social Media Club is active in promoting new media education and standards – such as the format for the social media press release.

Sally has authored several books on the use of new technology in PR and is in demand as a social media strategist and an expert speaker on how online news, blogs and RSS are influencing PR and marketing. Click here to view her website.

Nicole Goldman

Senior Vice President of Marketing an Publicity, Jim Henson Company

Nicole Goldman serves as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Publicity at The Jim Henson Company, overseeing the global marketing, promotions and public relations for all sectors of the Company’s business, including corporate, television, consumer products, home entertainment, international, live theater and online.

In her current role, Goldman has been instrumental in the successful launches of key children’s brands, including “Sid the Science Kid™” and “Dinosaur Train™,” both award-winning and critically-acclaimed series currently airing on PBS KIDS®; the web-based animated series for PBS KIDS GO! “Wilson and Ditch: Digging America™,” “Pajanimals” for Sprout, “The Possibility Shop” for Disney online and “Me and My Monsters,” for the BBC. Under the Henson Alternative label, she oversaw the launch of the Game Show Network late night series “Late Night Liars” and the live improvisational puppet show, “Stuffed and Unstrung,” currently touring the U.S.

Lee Rainie

Director, American Life Project, Pew Research Center

Lee Rainie is the Director of the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project, a non-profit, non–partisan “fact tank” that studies the social impact of the internet.

The Project has issued more than 300 reports based on its surveys that examine people’s online activities and the internet’s role in their lives. Lee is a co-author of Up for Grabs, Hopes and Fears, Ubiquity, Mobility, Security, and Challenges and Opportunities — a series of books about the future of the internet. He is also co-authoring a book for MIT Press about the social impact of technology with sociologist Barry Wellman that will be published in early 2012. The working title is Networked: The New Social Operating System.

Prior to launching the Pew Internet Project, Lee was managing editor of U.S. News & World Report. He is a graduate of Harvard University and has a master’s degree in political science from Long Island University.
